The Business of Business Cards

This is one creative way to go with card designs.

I have been a little in denial about my need for business cards. About a year ago, I realized I really needed them and about a year before that, I pretended like I didn't.

OK, so maybe I'm more than a little in denial about it.

My problem is that I'm picky. I don't want just any business cards. I want something that stands out in a person's mind. A plain white cards is so forgettable and says nothing about who I am. It's not like I'm at an American Psycho level of seriousness about the subject, but I don't want to blend into someone's collection of cards.

I've decided to look for inspiration and came across some really inventive designs, like the one pictured. It's amazing how creative people have gotten with something that used to be so uniform and simple. They're colorful, they have shapes, they're witty and some are just plain outrageous.

The point is that these people had a hand in their design process. Instead of going wacky, I think I'll go a simpler route by making them through Moo. It gives me some creative freedom without draining my bank account. But nothing's set in stone yet.

If you've gotten custom business cards made at an affordable price, I'd love to know what company you used.
