Your Weekend DIY

The other day when I was pinning, I came across an awesome discovery: sharpie ceramics. What exactly does this mean? No more overpriced pottery or mass-produced dishware--all you need is a sharpie, an oven and some plain porcelain pieces. It's the perfect weekend craft: quick, easy and fun.

So cute, am I right?

Here's what you do: grab a few sharpies in your desired color, carefully write or draw whatever your little heart desires, and stick it in the oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Yep, it's that simple.

For the more artistically-inclined.

These adorable blue trays would be perfect for tea lights or jewelry. Or, use bigger bowls and enjoy your artwork as you eat breakfast every morning.

Unique, quirky and totally handmade.

Completely in love with the herringbone pattern on the mug above, aren't you? It's trendy yet still personable. With a steady hand and some creativity, you can take a drab piece of porcelain and make it stand out. You can also use porcelain paint if you'd like, though it's a bit more complicated.

Test it out this weekend and tweet us your creations at @rufflings!
